Bob Doyle began his music publishing company with a firm belief in his heart that the American dream could still be realized. So he left a safe, comfortable job as Director of Member Relations at ASCAP where he had 7 years tenure and mortgaged his home for the start up funds to pursue his dream. Armed with a deep conviction in a then unknown songwriter named Garth Brooks, Doyle began to build a collection of musical copyrights that he believed in. Today those copyrights have been recorded by Country, R&B, Soul and Pop artists and heard in movies, television and videos throughout the world.
Systematically Doyle chose songwriters who he could nurture and teach the intricacies of the craft of songwriting. Choosing not to join the wave of today’s corporate consolidation mentality, Doyle has chosen not to sell his independent publishing group. He continues to carefully build his publishing interests and partner with both new and seasoned songwriters.
The publishing group has accumulated over 50 awards from performing rights organizations including Song of the Year for “The Fool”, a song penned by 3 struggling songwriters who had never had a hit previously. Doyle’s songs have been on over 30 platinum and gold certified albums in the U.S., representing units sold of over 130 million records.
Along the way, Doyle has carefully guided the career of Garth Brooks, who has become the largest selling solo artist in U.S. history. The pair have earned 4 Diamond Awards for record sales of over 10 million albums, a distinction held by no other recording artist. Brooks has written 14 of his 25 number one singles for Doyle’s publishing company, eventually earning him ASCAP’s Songwriter of the Year award. These successes were no accident. Each step has been calculated and planned to offer quality music to the public while protecting each copyright from piracy and inappropriate exploitation.
Other catalog highlights include Kenny Chesney's "There Goes My Life", Rascal Flatts hits such as "I Melt", "Take Me There", and "Fast Cars & Freedom", and cuts ranging from The Plain White T's to Carrie Underwood.
After 20 years in music publishing and a heartfelt investment of time and resources, Major Bob Music represents the entrepreneurial spirit exhibited by the scores of small business owners who make up America’s economy.
